After listening ,I feel that the girl in this conversation was very intend to buy some gift for her dad even helped her mom to do household work for earn the money.However,the money that she've got couldn't buy the expensive one but finally she could buy a tie with a low price.
According to this conversation, I think that the gift's price was not important than intention of a girl who wants to give a present for her dad.
